Welcome to season 2, episode 6 of the podcast, brought to you by The Find. The podcast focuses on exploring the art, passion and culture of hip hop, going beyond the typical questioning, and digging deeper into the passions, inspirations and experiences of those involved in the scene’s rich culture, featuring artwork from Sic Film and intro music by Herma Puma & Jabba The Kut, and interview editing by Grey Winter-Jones. This time the graphics are an ode to 1998’s album from People Under The Stairs - The Next Step.

This episode features an LA based lyricist who has been building a solid fanbase with jazz soaked, soul led rhymes that reflect on life, love and music. With his highly respected Jazz & Coffee series, he’s risen to fame and has consequently supported the likes of Bizarre Ride, People Under The Stairs and more as a solo artist and with his group Revolutionary Rhythm. This is Diggin’ The Crates, with Kid Abstrakt.

This episode of the DTC podcast is supporting the upcoming paperback release of God Save The Queens - The Essential History of women in hip hop - by Kathy Iandoli - As a massively respected journalist who has written for the likes of Vibe, Pitchfork, XXL and many more, Kathy’s book shines a much needed light on the history of women within hip hop. There’s no doubt that female voices have not been given enough time and respect within the genre’s history, and this book is righting that wrong. Covering every facet of the scene, from early lyricists such as Roxanne Shante and Queen Latifah to the current superstars of the scene, the book explores gender, money, sexuality, objectification and more.

The book is available from all good retailers including Amazon. Check out God Save The Queens - The Essential History of women in hip hop - by Kathy Iandoli - an essential read for any fan of hip hop, new or old.
