Her son Jonathan discovered her body the next day, along with her beloved dog Sport, who was also killed.

Suspicion fell on her ex-husband, Gary, due to their ongoing divorce and a suspicious fire at their Maine home just hours before the murder. Although Gary had an alibi and passed a polygraph test, many people still suspect him due to the lack of thorough investigation by the local police force.
