Artist Profile of the Week: Coy Haste

Toronto producer Brad Weber releases his fourth EP as Coy Haste, “Bancha Bounce”.
Pairing contemporary house and disco influences with the far-flung textures and intrigue of 70s/80s South Asian psychedelia, Weber crafts his most dance-music forward EP to date.
Opening track “Lamma Nights” is an exploration in themes of retro futurism. Inspired by the neon streets of Hong Kong, Coy reimagines Italo disco with tight crunchy beats, evolving arpeggios and sun-stroked synth leads, all filtered through his unique production lens.
The lead single, “Noi District”, takes a prominent Thai vocal about love and loss and pairs it with a classic house beat, bubblegum bass and tropical undertones.
Conceived over a cup of Indonesian coffee, “Giling Basah” finishes off the journey with a skippy Floating Points-esque beat, funky resonant bassline, finely chopped pop vocals and playful traditional percussion.
