It allowed users to phish entire chat rooms, “punt” people offline, "mail bomb" user inboxes, and to scroll ASCII art in chat rooms. This lead to thousands of copycat programs and a new subculture within AOL. It inspired a generation of teenagers and twenty-somethings to learn how to program, decompile, and wreak havoc.
