Sparks fly when different disciplines collide. Visual artists respond to poets and spoken word artists create works based on paintings. Join us as we discuss the intersection of visual art and poetry. Poets will join us with their works and how they find inspiration in visual art. Ekphrasis: Using Art to Inspire Poetry is a tradition that goes far back in time....The earliest and best known example of ekphrasis is the long description of the shield made by Hephaistos and given to Achilles by his mother Thetis. (The passage is found in Book 18 of the Iliad.) Our artist/poets witll share their work here tonight. Woo Hoo!
