The head of public relations at Chinese search giant Baidu has created her own PR crisis after posting a series of videos glorifying the work-till-you-drop culture.
The PR chief, Qu Jing, posted at least four videos on TikTok's Chinese sister Douyin, portraying herself as a tough-as-nails manager. She talked about keeping her phone on 24-7 and warned her direct reports to toe the line, hitting a raw nerve with young workers fed up with grueling hours and relentless pressure.
The dust-up is emblematic of the pressures in China's tech industry, and may signal friction between management and younger workers.
