A talanoa Live with Jerome Mika on The Future with COVID
Manage episode 328918074 series 3350738
We are honoured to have Jerome Mika the spokesperson for the AOG Church of Samoa Cluster on Talanoa who is working on behalf of The Cause Collective NZ and working closely with South Seas Healthcare Trust Live Episode 10 Wednesday 8th 10am.
With some cases - and let's refer to these people as Kiwi's not cases, with some Kiwis also in hospital, the prospect of "Something not so good eventuating" is bringing home the reality of the situation for all New Zealand, we are talking about the potential loss of life, and while deaths occur daily for a range of reasons, New Zealand has worked to eliminate covid and by comparison to the world remained relatively safe.
In our session with Jerome, this is the opportunity for him to share the story of the community as he sees fit, and our opportunity to "Talanoa" - to listen and share with respect.
The irony won't be lost that we call our series a pacific word referring to communicating with respect, while this group has received the most disrespectful racist abuse during the hardest of times - with lives at stake and on the media everyday - let's make clear the Church service was on the Sunday with the first case being announced the following Tuesday.
Sadly for the community it is an example of a super-spreader but through no fault of their own and like any Kiwis, the nation is (except for a small bunch of small minded people), behind you.
Thus, we will hear the insights from Jerome's view looking from the centre out, sharing the community's story with from my perspective a community that has rallied to come together and support the best results for the individuals affected to their community to all of New Zealand, for which we thank you.
