EP. 18 What Financial Trauma Is, Signs You May Be Experiencing It + How To Recover From Past Money Wounds
Manage episode 364285785 series 2415212
The term “trauma” seems to be rampant in 2023… especially on social media.
Being “trauma informed,” experiencing “childhood trauma,” or having a “trauma bond” are phrases used repeatedly to describe certain pivotal and disturbing life experiences and/or mental distress. And while sometimes “trauma” is over exaggerated or used incorrectly, the current spotlight on this pervasive problem has brought, front-and-center, the need to explore it in greater depth.
This leads to the question: what about trauma and money? Can you have financial PTSD? Can you experience financial trauma? How valid are these things… or are we, as a society, being dramatic when it comes to this pairing?
In this episode, you’ll learn more about:
- What is financial trauma + who experiences financial trauma
- The 6 common ways financial trauma manifests itself in your body, mind, and life
- Ways to address financial trauma and learn healthy coping mechanisms
- Sami’s financial trauma: money examples she had during her childhood, how these experiences shaped her money narrative + more
