Tonight is the night, Donald Trump will square off against Joe Biden in the first presidential debate of 2024. This is the debate of the century where so much is at stake. These administrations have served side by side with 2 very distinct records. Trump can point to the border, inflation, war and the economy. With an utterly failed administration and diminishing cognitive function, Biden's strategy is likely to lean in on the issue of abortion, calling Trump a "convicted felon" and "saving democracy." With a son recently convicted of felony gun charges it will be interesting to see how personal the verbal sparring gets. Trump gained significant momentum recently with the Charlottesville hoax exposed by snopes and some excellent polling battleground states. CNN's Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will be moderating the crowd-less debate where mics are muted when the candidate is not speaking. RFK Jr. is counter programming the debate, a move that Trump did very successfully during the Republican nominee process, will RFK draw anyone other than "double haters?"
