Find the full interview with Yaakov Shapiro here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/patreon-full-127784040 Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro talks about his protest against Ben Gvir in front of the Israeli Consulate in New York and why he sees Zionism as the enemy of Judaism. Jennifer Koonings shares what she observed attending a Ben Gvir protest where a woman was physically attacked and bloodied by Ben Gvir supporters. But first historian Greg Grandin talks about the Pope, immigration, imperialism and his excellent new book America "America, América: A New History of the New World" Greg Grandin is Professor of History at Yale University. He is the author of a number of prize-winning books, including most recently The End of the Myth: From the Frontier to the Border Wall in the Mind of America, and The Empire of Necessity: Slavery, Freedom, and Deception in the New World, which won the Bancroft and Beveridge prizes in American History and was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize in the UK. He has attained an enviable place in the arena of anti-Zionist public intellectuals, having constructed a unique oeuvre on the ideology of Zionism and its relationship to Judaism. After graduating high school at age 16, Rabbi Shapiro dedicated himself to full-time study of religion, becoming the protégé of some of the most well-regarded rabbinic scholars in Orthodoxy. Among his areas of research are religious philosophy, analytic theology, Talmud, Halachah, and Biblical exegesis. At age 19 he published his first book, משפטי הבירורים, a collection of original expositions on rabbinic principles of tort adjudication. Aharon talks about moving from the U.S. to the West Bank where he and his family were settlers, and then going to prison for refusing to serve in the IDF. Alex talks about his investigation into who funds The Canary Mission. Then Katie talks to political comedian Lee Camp about Ben Shapiro and trying to do comedy in this insanity. Their work together has ranged from trying to craft Columbia campus policy changes that would be supported by both the Jewish and Palestinian communities, to crafting the framework for an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan designed to meet the needs of all the inhabitants of the land. Alex Kane is a senior reporter at Jewish currents and has also reported on The Canary Mission for The Intercept. Lee Camp is the former host of Redacted Tonight and current host of Unredacted Tonight on YouTube. Craig Mokhiber is an American former United Nations (UN) human rights official and a specialist in international human rights law, policy, and methodology. On October 28, 2023, Mokhiber stepped down as the director of the New York office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Katie, who is in Europe interviewing Holocaust survivors protesting the Gaza genocide, plays a clip from her recently recovered footage (we thought it had been lost) of a live show she recorded in Dublin in July about the connection between Palestine and Ireland. Sadly, it’s just as relevant now as it was then. For the full discussion, please join us on Patreon at - https://www.patreon.com/posts/patreon-full-124164727 The live show featured Danny Morrison, a writer and former republican prisoner from West Belfast. He was national director of publicity for Sinn Féin in the 1980s and is the secretary of the Bobby Sands Trust. It also featured Asad Abushark, a Palestinian-Irish academic from Gaza and an international spokesperson of the Great March of Return . They co-edited the book A SHARED STRUGGLE: Stories of Palestinian & Irish Hunger Strikers. The Patreon only version features hilarious Irish comedian Tadhg Hickey. Then Katie plays an interview with three members of the London-based organization Holocaust Survivors and Descendants against the Gaza Genocide: Stephen Kapos is an artist and Holocaust survivor; Agnes Kory is a musician, scholar and Holocaust survivor ; and Haim Bresheeth is a historian, filmmaker and the son of two Holocaust survivors. All three feature in Katie’s documentary about Holocaust survivors and their descendants working to end the genocide in Gaza. Haim was ARRESTED for saying at a protest that Israel was not going to defeat Hamas. And earlier this month Stephen was QUESTIONED by London police. Speaking of the criminalization of speech when it comes to Palestine, we MUST ALL demand the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil, a legal resident of the U.S. and recent Columbia University graduate who was still living in university housing who who has been abducted by Trump’s ICE in what the president vows is “the first arrest of many to come.” Khalil, who was born in Syria to Palestinian refugee parents, was one of the negotiators representing student demonstrators during talks with Columbia University’s administration. Check out our interview with Wallace Shawn on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/wallace-shawn-121218101 Israeli-American activist and author Miko Peled, who knows Benjamin Netanyahu personally, exposes who he really is and discusses the so-called "ceasefire," the end of Israel, and how he was accused of terrorism. But first, award-winning reporter William N. (Bill) Proctor, and activist and streamer discuss the case of Temujin Kensu, who has been wrongfully imprisoned for 37 years for a murder that was committed more than 400 miles away from where Kensu was. Miko Peled is an author, writer, speaker, and human rights activist living in the United States. He is the author of "The General's Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine" and "Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five." His father was a high ranking Israeli general, his maternal grandfather was a signatory to Israeli independence, his niece was tragically killed in a suicide bombing and he's a staunch advocate for a one state solution. He is considered by many to be one of the clearest voices calling for justice in Palestine, support of the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) and the creation of a single democracy with equal rights in all of historic Palestine. Educated in Jerusalem, Japan and the United States, Peled is also an accomplished professional martial artist. For 23 years, Peled ran a martial arts school that was dedicated to teaching leadership skills and non-violent conflict resolution through martial arts. Miko is also a contributor to several online publications (Mint Press, The Electronic Intifada, Democracy Now, Mondoweiss), Mikopeled.com, and produces The Miko Peled Podcast, all of which he dedicated to advocating for the creation of one democratic state with equal rights for Israelis and Palestinians. He travels regularly to Palestine where he speaks and works with the popular resistance, the BDS movement, and other justice groups. As a result, he has been arrested several times by the Israeli authorities for his activism. William N. (Bill) Proctor, founder of Proving Innocence, is an award-winning journalist, reporter, producer, and anchorperson whose career of nearly forty years spanned electronic media, radio, television, and documentaries. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Bill received his degree in Sociology and Corrections with a minor in Journalism. He concluded his career as senior staff reporter for WXYZ-TV in Southfield, MI. In the mid-1990s, he produced a series of specials on the slaying of community-college student, Scott Macklem. Through his investigations, Bill became convinced that Frederick Freeman (Temujin Kensu), the man convicted of killing Macklem, was not guilty. His passion for redressing this injustice led Bill to found Proving Innocence in 2007. In May 2013, Bill "retired" and started Bill Proctor and Associates, a communications consulting firm. In 2017 Bill formed a new organization, which looks at a multitude of issues surrounding wrongful convictions, which go beyond the scope of Proving Innocence. Joy Marie Mann is an organizer, activist, writer, journalist and long-time streamer. She resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She is the author of the book "Our Friend, Temujin: Serving Life, Changing Lives" ***Please support The Katie Halper Show *** For bonus content, exclusive interviews, to support independent media & to help make this program possible, please join us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/thekatiehalpershow Get your Katie Halper Show Merch here! https://katiehalper.myspreadshop.com/all Follow Katie on Twitter: @kthalps…
