Market Masala: Sensex, Nifty takes U-turn in late trade ends in red; Metals bleed, Auto zooms

At close, Sensex fell 642 points from the day's high to 54,288, down 37 points or 0.07%. The Nifty50, on the other hand lost 51 points or 0.32% at 16,214 after hitting a high of 16,415. Among the headline stocks, M&M, Maruti, HUL, L&T and Asian Paints were the top gainers rallying upto 4.14%. Whereas, Tata Steel, Ultratech Cement, ITC, PowerGrid and HDFC twins were the top laggards sinking as much as 12.5%.
