New cleanup hitter Jonah Bride homered and drove in two runs, and Jake Burger homered for the third straight game to lead the Marlins to the 6-2 win and a split in this two-game series.

Burger's two-run homer in the 4th inning gave the Marlins the lead, and Roddery Munoz and the bullpen took it from there. Burger has homered in three straight games for the Marlins. He now has fifteen on the season.

New leadoff man Xavier Edwards hit a two-run single in the seventh, and former Rays minor league Vidal Brujan went 3-5 with two runs scored. Edwards drove in three runs, continuing his hot hitting in place of the recently traded Jazz Chisholm, Jr.. Bride is replacing also-tree Josh Bell.

The Marlins (40-68) traded six players yesterday, bringing their season total to ten- Luis Arraez, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Josh Bell, Bryan De La Cruz, AJ Puk, Trevor Rogers, Bryan Hoeing, Huascar Brazoban, JT Chargois, and All-Star Closer Tanner Scott.

Starter Roddery Munoz (2-5) got the win, tossing five innings for Miami, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking just one. The bullpen took over from there. Andrew Nardi, Jesus Tinoco, Jonathan Bender, and Calvin Faucher combined to go four shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six and walking only one. Faucher, also a former Ray, pitched a 1-2-3 ninth against his former team.

Christopher Morel homered for the second straight game for the Rays, (55-53) who had won seven of their previous ten games. Morel was traded from the Cubs and got here yesterday.

Jonny Deluca went 2-3 with an RBI, and Josh Lowe added two hits.

Rays Starter- and best pitcher right now- Taj Bradley (6-5) gave up four runs on four hits to take the loss. The Marlins snapped Bradley's 20+ innings scoreless streak when Jonah Bride homered in the 2nd inning.

The Marlins finish this season 1-3 against the Rays. They have lost 24 of their last 28 games against them since 2019.

The Marlins are heading to Atlanta, where they will open up a three-game series against the Braves tomorrow. First pitch is set for 7:20pm ET.

Miami Manager Skip Schumaker hasn't named a starter yet. Charlie Morton (5-6, 4.16 ERA) will pitch for the second-place Braves, who sit. games behind the 1st-place Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East.
