The West Chester-based QVC is laying off 900 employees, about 5% of its workforce. In January the company announced it would close HSN's campus in St. Petersburg, Florida, and consolidate operations into Studio Park in West Chester. Most of the impacted employees appear to be located in Florida, according to a notice filed with Florida's Department of Commerce. HSN is expected to begin broadcasting from West Chester by the third quarter of 2025. In 2024, the company reported the size of its workforce to be roughly 17,000 employees. Will Smith gave his native West Philadelphia one of the most iconic lyrical shout-outs in rap history. But since his ascent to superstardom as a musician, actor and producer, the 56-year-old’s public appearances in his city of birth have been few and far between. A street renaming in his honor, however, brought him home, as he addressed family, friends, and local officials to mark the occasion. KYW Newsradio’s Matt Coughlin was on hand, and shares how the event was both a nod to Smith’s accomplishments and imperfections. The last time Lancaster County voted a Democrat to the State Senate? 1889. That’s how long the district has been a GOP stronghold. But James Andrew Malone helped his embattled party end that drought by defeating Republican Josh Parsons in a special election. With President Trump shaking up norms during his first 100 days back in office, the outcome of this local Pennsylvania race 80 miles from Philadelphia has political observers wondering: were the results a sign of trends to come, or simply a one-off change of course? KYW Newsradio Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert gives his thoughts. Listen to The Week in Philly on KYW Newsradio every Saturday at 5am and 3pm, and Sunday at 3pm.…

Last we saw the Philadelphia Phillies in a game of consequence, it was bad news. They bowed out of the playoffs in a four-game National League Division Series loss to the hated New York Mets. What’s changed since then? On paper, not much. Coming off a relatively pragmatic winter, the Phillies still believe they have a roster worthy of contention, as they look to build off their best regular season finish and first division title in over a decade. KYW Newsradio’s Dave Uram sizes up the club’s World Series chances, and evaluates additions to the team.
