For years we have talked about the automotive tech shortage in the work place. Dealerships have taken to providing incentives and some have even gone into the training business so they can develop their own.
We think one of the issues starts very early, like in high school. Many of us grew up with auto shop classes being available in the high schools. We could learn some of the basics, or even better ways to do things. For some of us, it also let us know how far we wanted to go 'pulling wrenches'.
Budget cuts, technology, student interest, there are a lot of reasons that there are not as many of these classes. However, we found Greg Ditch, Napperville High School Auto Shop teach that is growing his attendance, particularly the female students.
Join us as we learn more about the instructor that has turned the program around, as well as what he thinks the secrets to success are.
