What a fun Bible Study! Tonight we talk about all types of love stories in the Bible - from arranged marriages to people who were crazy in love. There are those men who loved the wrong woman (Ahab & Jezebel, Samson & Delilah, Potiphar & his wife, Lot & his wife); and women who loved the wrong man (Abigail & Nabal). There were arranged marriages - like David and some of his wives, Esther and the king. There were "ride or die" couples - even when they shouldn't have been, like Ananias & Sapphira. Couples who were together for protection or provision - like David & Abigail and Ruth & Boaz. Of course, there was forbidden love - like David & Bathsheba. And carnal love - or something - like with Amnon & Tamar (2 Samuel 13). We focus our scripture readings on two drama-free couples who are worth emulating - Aquila & Priscilla and Ruth & Boaz.
